A few days ago I wrote, introducing the stray cat that had been coming around my place since November. Over the weeks she has slowly tamed down a little, to the point I can get her to eat out of my hand and sometimes pet her. Though she might enjoy it once, she quickly forgets she did the next time I try. So that remains a constant process of trial and reminding.
This past weekend she showed up at her normal time, with a surprise in tow–her kitten. Pictured here, little baby is about 2 or two and a half pounds in weight and around 8 weeks old. And wild as the winter wind, just like her mother was. The picture does not do justice as how adorably cute she really is. So tiny and fluffy, with a pixie face, she reminds me of a toy instead of real kitten.
So the process of taming has begun all over again, this time with tiny fluffy baby Avery Faith. Right after I made a run to the grocery store for some kitten food of course. And as of last night, progress for both mother and baby has been steady and good. Had my fingers not frozen after a while, I might have been able to do more, but I left encouraged there is hope for both of them to some day become fully tame. I just have to have faith and look around at the cats currently in residence in my home to know it’s possible.
