I recently had the opportunity to read and review a novel by a fellow author from Soul Mate Publishing. After spending a year trying to get reviews for my own book, I felt this to be a particular honor to be asked to read and offer my humble opinion of one of my peers.
First of all, the cover is lovely; a red grist mill near a flowing river. That is eye-catching and sets a mood without lifting a finger. Next, open to the first page and delve in.
‘War Eagle Woman’ is, in a word, gritty. It is the honest–and a little haunting–story of several generations of women from War Eagle. The complex characters each have their own story to tell, and they take their time to make sure we the reader understands them fully.
It is centered around when seventeen year old Samantha has a very serious car accident. Her family rallies around her, mostly unaware of her secret. But they have secrets of their own, long-buried ones. As the months pass and Samantha’s future remains uncertain, they are forced to stop and face their individual past.
This story can be shocking at times, certainly real and a poignant reminder to us of our own individual history. In the end, ‘War Eagle Women’ will beg the question: what would you do?
I would recommend checking out this book, setting aside some quiet time and get to know the ‘War Eagle Women’.
‘War Eagle Women’ is written by Tina Bausinger, available at Amazon and of course, through our publisher, Soul Mate Publishing.
