This past month I had the fun of reading the first in a series. This is ‘Love Over Troubled Waters’ Book # 1 in the Emergency Calls Series by Lonora Mangano.
This is a fast paced story of Maggie Connors, a successful career girl. While driving home during a terrible storm one night, the bridge between work and home collapses, taking her and her car for a wild ride. The car is a loss but Maggie survives, hanging onto a limb with tenacious toughness.
Jake Madison is a local firefighter and when he arrives to rescue Maggie, he thinks she is the most beautiful, brave and tough woman he has ever known. Instantly, he is attracted to her.
Maggie develops some PTSD issue from the trauma of the accident. Each time she experiences a bad situation, Jake is somehow there, lending a shoulder, an ear or just a caring smile. Maggie and Jake are on a fast ride to lasting romance, until Jake’s therapist sister tells them they must stop seeing each other in order for Maggie to recover from her PTSD.
How can these two passionate people avoid each other for the time necessary for Maggie to heal? Their love was born in troubled waters. But can it survive the drought of absence?
The conclusion was beautifully wrapped up and I can’t wait to see what Lanora Mangano writes about in Book # 2 of her Emergency Calls Series.
