We are half way through our Twelve Days of Christmas blog hop. I hope you are having fun reading my posts, getting to know me a little better, finding some great books to buy either for yourself or as gifts and spending some time getting to know the other authors at Soul Mate Publishing.
Day Six is all about my tree and decorating ideas. Get ready for lots of pictures:
These are paper mache ornaments. I bought them for around a dollar each at the local craft store. Just plain brown, they were a blank canvas so I set to work, painting in pretty pastels and bold metallic, trimming them with either glitter glue or more metallic paints. I think they turned out pretty, though I like the pastels best of all. This was my project for this year.
This centerpiece was designed many years ago (about fifteen) and graces some table each year. The base is a serving tray from the dollar store and various greenery, holly and red roses ring the taper candles. Bundles of cinnamon sticks tied with silver cord, white pearl bunches and tiny pine cones (all craft store finds) fill in any gaps.
Okay, these are two ceramic Santa Claus figurines and a pair of raccoons decorating a small Christmas tree. These are all products of the years when I was heavily into painting ceramics. I have slowed down considerably due to time, space to store and display them and no longer having a ready supply of fresh bisque. For a few years, people were usually getting a ceramic something from me for their Christmas gift. When I went to my father-in-law’s home last year, I was looking around and stunned at the number of ceramic stuff I had given him over the years.
These days I keep my collection grouped in rooms. Study is nautical so it’s all the fishy themed ceramics. Den is a mix of native American/ wolf and all my carousels (about 12 not counting life sized) Bedroom is collie themed. Non- carousel horses fit in wherever there is a spot.
My feature author today is Ann Lacey and her book, A Second Chance for Murder.
When a young woman is murdered during a party at the family estate and local authorities are unable to find the culprit, Lady Thora Mannington decides to take matters into her own hands and sets out to find the killer herself!
Fearing for his impulsive sister’s safety, her brother, Nyle turns to his friend Lord Garren Huntscliff for help. Though his investigating days are over, Garren cannot refuse his troubled friend. No sooner does he take on the case than two more deaths occur and he soon discovers that he is matching wits against a dangerous and clever killer. Complicating his effort is the lovely Lady Thora, who insists on joining forces with him yet refuses to adhere to his cautions, continually places herself at risk and is so disarmingly enchanting that he finds himself falling for her. Now Garren has two things on his mind, find a crafty and elusive killer and keep the reckless Lady Thora from becoming a victim herself!
