Merritt Kelly is joining us today, with her foodie/ chick lit book, Culinary Seduction. Merritt, welcome to my blog. Let’s begin with you telling us a little about Culinary Seduction.
MK: Chef Andrea Claire is a woman who knows what she wants, and what she wants is to build her own culinary empire. Hosting the show would give her the injection of cash she needs to finally get a store front for her catering business and give her the credibility she seeks. Her food is infused with her warmth and passion.
Bad boy chef Danny Miller’s bold flavors and state-of-the-art techniques in molecular gastronomy set him apart from the pack. Hosting the show would raise the profile of his restaurant and he could pay what he owes the bank and his grandmother.
Will his talent be enough to garner him the win? Or will Andrea’s seductive on camera personality and obvious passion for cooking win out? Their on air chemistry is undeniable. The test kitchens at Cuisine Channel have never been so hot!
RJS: Wow, that sounds pretty hot, for sure. It makes you wonder who will win, and what the prize will be. I have just started reading Culinary Seduction and so far, I am hungry for more. I understand Night Owl Reviews recently gave Culinary Seduction a 3 1/2 star review. That’s just great. The review is posted here— just to show it off, Merritt.
Merritt Kelly takes readers behind the scenes of food television with this hot and tasty contemporary romance. Andrea Claire and Danny Miller are engaging characters with vastly different culinary skills and both are appealing in different ways, to the fictional camera and to the reader. I loved watching them interact with one another as well as with their fellow contestants and the show’s executives. I found the two other contestants to be highly entertaining and their personalities helped move the story along and deepen the connection between the hero and heroine. I enjoyed how we got to see so much background information on them and their coworkers and families. The details were amazing bringing to life not only delicious recipes but describing complex culinary techniques that made me feel as if I were right there in the kitchen. If you are a foodie who loves romance this is a great choice because maybe the best way to a readers heart is through the stomach.
Both Andrea Claire and Danny Miller long to become the host of a sensual new cooking show called CULINARY SEDUCTION and both chefs compete with two additional contestants in order to win the honor. The chemistry between these two wanna-be television stars is heating up more than the kitchen. Can they compete with one another while still developing feelings for each other and how will their possible relationship work when the winner is announced.
RJS: What a good review. Congratulations. So can you now share a little about yourself?
MK: I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband, son and cat. When I’m not writing, I’m cooking walking or reading. I love to laugh, all the music in the Guardians Of The Galaxy, trying new foods, a good glass of wine and almost anything chocolate. My first novel, Culinary Seduction, a foodie/chick-lit romance, was released through Soul Mate Publishing on February 19th of 2015.
RJS: Wonderful. I love the Pacific Northwest region. I visited Portland, OR years ago, fell in love with the weather and beauty. One day I might leave the sunny south for your neck of the woods. In the meantime, I dream and use the loveliness of the Pacific coast for the backdrop of some of my best writing. Do you have any media links to share with readers?

RJS: Now, since Culinary Seduction is a foodie book, do you have a favorite recipe to share? Something worthy of Andrea and Danny?
MICROWAVE MOLTEN LAVA CHOCOLATE CAKE by Merritt Kelly
This is my take on a molten lava cake only made in the microwave. What’s easier than a five minute cake? What’s sexier than molten chocolate? You’ll see that this cake is fit for any special occasion.. Serve individual portions for each guest in a festive mug or tip them out onto a plate and top with powdered sugar and serve with ice cream., either way it’s a crowd-pleaser! It’s so fast and easy you can use this recipe any time you want something warm chocolaty and comforting.
You Will Need:
1 coffee mug
1Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of butter
1T cocoa powder
¼ tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
dollop of strawberry preserves
dollop of peanut butter
Using a ten ounce microwaveable mug melt the butter in the microwave. Whisk in the milk, sugar, flour, cocoa powder and salt. The batter will be runny. Put a few chocolate chips in the bottom and add a dollop of strawberry preserves. Or add a dollop of peanut butter to the strawberry preserves for a peanut butter and jelly center! Yum! Microwave on high for thirty seconds. If the cake looks puffy and has a dull texture, insert a spoon. The center should be molten or gooey. If it’s cake-like the whole way through then it’s over cooked. Reduce the cooking time by ten seconds next time. If it’s too runny increase the cooking time by ten seconds.
RJS: Wow, chocolate and easy to make. What is not to love? Thank you for joining me today. Your cake looks ooey-gooey perfect and Culinary Seduction is a great book. I am loving its pace and humor. Best wishes for continued wave reviews.
