The second is Berith he is a fallen angel. The third is Michael who is also a fallen angel. Kat accidentally stumbles, into a battle between angel’s and demons.
How long did it take? I originally wrote Midnight Angel in 2010. It has been revisited a number of times, since then.
Where do you write? I mainly write in bed. Weird I know. I will make notes or write scene outlines, while watching the TV. Then I toddle off to bed with my laptop and type away. At the weekend, I will often read through a chapter and modify it while I cook the Sunday lunch. I carry a little note book around with me and make notes of ideas, when they pop into my head.
Are you working on anything else right now? I am currently working on the sequel but I can’t tell you, it’s a secret.
Hardest part about writing? The hardest part of writing is the editing. Most defiantly the editing.
Here is a short EXCERPT:
The park was empty at this time of night. All the children had gone home hours ago. The nights were getting colder and the evening air bit through my clothes, making me shiver. A light dew clung to my hair and skin as the darkness closed in around me, shrouding me from the main road.
After a long day at work, I made my way along the manmade path. It was a good shortcut taking fifteen minutes off my journey. I would soon be home, safe and warm.
What to have for dinner? Hmm. Pizza! Yeah, I’ll dial a pizza. Treat myself. Why not?
Happy with my decision, I carried on my way.
Pulling my jacket collar up around my neck, I tried to beat the cold and the shiver running up my spine.
A sharp pain shot through my head, stunning me, and suddenly I was flying across the path. My forehead hit the ground with an audible thump. Another powerful flash of pain. Black blotches blurred my vision as I tried to focus on my surroundings.
I attempted to get up but something struck my back, flattening me to the ground. The wind rushed from my lungs. I couldn’t move! A heavy weight sat on my back, holding me down. I struggled to draw enough air into my lungs. Something sharp penetrated my back, then my arms and the top of my leg. It was pure agony!
What’s happening? Have I been stabbed?
Tucking my flailing hands under my body, I attempted to get up, a silent scream trapped inside me, but the weight held me in place.
Snaking my body, I wriggled across the compact soil of the path, attempting to pull myself forward. It was no use. I couldn’t even get to my hands and knees.
My clothes were ripped from my back as the onslaught continued.
The pain slowly dulled, even though I was still at the mercy of my attacker. My heart pounded with fear as this predator snatched at my body. I was shaken violently from side to side. My gut told me my attacker was male. He was dominant, strong, and overpowering.
Oh God, this can’t be happening. No, please. I don’t want to die!
Glancing around frantically for a weapon, I realized I still had my keys in my hand. Without thinking, I slashed them behind my back with as much force as I could. They bit into something soft. Warm fluid flowed over me.
I had hurt him and possibly made him angrier. This unseen person was going to do the unthinkable. He was going to violate me, rob me of my life, or both. I desperately needed to get away from this monster. But how? I couldn’t fight back. Damn it, I couldn’t even move.
Nausea washed over me as my body weakened, my life draining away. A dark mist clouded my mind, consuming me, consuming my thoughts. I was going to die here in a lonely, dark park in the middle of London. I would never see my family and friends again.
Why? Why? I want to live. Help me, please help me, someone!
As if this monster had heard my silent plea, the shaking suddenly stopped. The weight lifted slightly and I could breathe. Relief washed over me.
Had the attack finished? Did he think I was dead?
I lay still, faking death, struggling not to take deep, gulping breaths. I fought the panic pumping through my body.
I became aware of a stroking sensation on my back, a light caress. Small strokes, followed by a sound I could not identify. The strokes became harder and the noise louder. A wet, squelching sound.
What is that?
My head spun with confusion and panic as I strained to locate my attacker. I saw a movement from the corner of my eye. I turned but couldn’t focus. It was too dark and I was in shock.
Warm liquid ran down my back, arms, and legs. Blood. My blood, but there was no pain, still no pain.
In a moment of clarity, I knew I had to move. To get away before my attacker struck again.
Wow, very nice. Chilling and hot at the same time. And here is a link to the trailer you recently made: https://traceyawoodblog.wordpress.com/2016/06/12/midnight-angel-by-tracey-a-wood-release-on-22nd-june/
Okay, Q& A time, ’cause we like to be nosy here and get to know ya. Name the most recent movie or book you’ve enjoyed? Most recent movie is Deadpool. I really like Ryan Reynolds in any movie. Book: I have just finished The dirt on ninth grave by Darynda Jones. I love her Charley Davidson series.
How did you meet your spouse/ significant other? We met at work. We both worked for a china manufacturing company. In fact, he proposed to me there, outside the main entrance.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Would you keep your day job (if you have one?) If I won enough money, I would give up the day job. We would move to somewhere with plenty of land and I would take in stray and hurt animals. We are both big animal lovers.
What is your favorite past time? Writing or reading. When not doing the day job, or looking after my disabled son, I love to write. When I am on the treadmill a night, I read. If I am having trouble with a scene. I stop, take a break and read a book. Going back to it a few hours later or the next day, gives me a new perspective.
Would you rather have the ability to be invisible or have x-ray vision? Invisibility, I could sneak into places without paying. Lol. But if I had a superpower I would like to teleport. No sitting in traffic, no flying and traveling. It would be brilliant and the time I would save would be amazing.
If you had to give up one of your five senses, what would it be? (common sense does not count here) The sense of smell. I can’t smell very well anyway.
What ‘s a typical day like? Busy. I am up at 5.30 to get my son ready, then myself. Then my three cats. I’m at work for around 6.30 and back home by around 1600hrs. By the time I have cooked the evening meal, seen to my son and had a bath, it’s a bit of TV and bed to write.
How do you like to spend a rainy day? If it’s a work day, it’s the same as any other day. It rains a lot in the UK anyway. I’m not a sunbather. I get bored when I sit still, doing nothing.
What one item would you grab if the house was on fire? (assume no living beings are inside) My laptop. I could continue to write while I waited for the fire fighters to come.
Describe one moment in time when you took a huge leap of faith. How did it turn out? Sending my book to Soul mate publishing and guess what, it got published.
What’s one favorite thing you do by yourself? I talk to myself and I mean a lot. It’s ok because I also answer myself too.
Favorite food to cook? Curry
Favorite animal? Cat
Favorite color? Purple
Favorite book? Vampire Academy by Richelle mead
Favorite sport or physical activity? I hate physical activity. I have to force myself to exercise.
Favorite kind of music? 80’s
What makes you laugh? I have a weird sense of humor but I love to watch funny animal video’s
Favorite season? Spring
Which do you prefer for a second home? Mountain cabin, beach house or big city condo? Beach house. I love the sea.
If you had a magic genie, what would your three wishes be? Win the Lottery, big. World peace. Stop cruelty to animals.
What three items would you take if you knew you were going to be stranded on a tropical island for a year? (enough suntan lotion is a freebie) Solar powered battery with my laptop. My husband, he is very handy and can build most things and would catch the food. A very sharp knife.
One quote you love, that keeps you going in life? Everything happens for a reason
One thing few people know about you? I use to be an advanced scuba diver.
Do you believe in love at first sight? I would like to say yes but I think that is lust not love
Tracey A Wood has lived in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire in the United Kingdom, for all of her life. She has been married for over thirty years and has two children. One of her boy’s lives at home due to being disable the other has flown the coup. She has three cats that are her babies, and she talks to them all of the time. Funny thing is they don’t answer back.
She loves snowboarding, skiing, jumping out of aeroplanes and bungee jumping. Well, that is when other people are doing them. She prefers to have her nose in a book or writing one. She also loves to people watch which her husband is always telling her to stop doing. She has a job that she enjoys and works full time. Although if she won the lottery, that might change! She has also got a very good imagination.
In 2014, she decided to take the bull by the horns and send her manuscript to Soul Mate Publishing. She feels so privileged to have her book published, as this is the first one that she has written. It has made her dream of being a published author a reality. Life really is too short to wait, you’ve got to go for it. She is still working full time and is also working on another book in her limited spare time. Her favourite saying is ‘Everything happens for a reason’ which she also believes is true.
Her books are fast paced and centred on a female lead who finds an inner strength after being thrown into situations that are beyond her control.
