Welcome to my blog. The picture shown here tells a lot about me. I enjoy nature and quiet, tranquil places in which to contemplate life’s mysteries.
I am a writer by my very nature. I first took pen to paper when I was ten years old because I liked the books I was reading at the time, surely I could write one was well. That copy is long gone but the ones since have shared some success. Between magazines, trade journals and an anthology, I have enjoyed seeing my words in print. My debut novel, Whispers in her Heart, in November 2012 was a major milestone for me. One that was the catalyst for me to build a platform, learn the lingo and take that tentative step toward a serious writing career and a lifelong dream.
‘Whispers in her Heart’ is offered by Black Lyon Publishing, www.blacklyonpublishing.com, or through Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble or your favorite book store. This is a spell binding romance with twists of mystery and supernatural, blended with the exciting world of horse racing.
September 2014 brought ‘Shimmers of Stardust’ to life, being offered through Soul Mate Publishing, www.soulmatepublishing.com plus Amazon, B & N and your preferred independent bookseller. This is the story of a war hero turned outlaw hanged in 1869. Discovered alive in our day, he is hunted for research. Helped by the Christian anthropologist who found him, they find romance while they are hiding out.
In November 2014, ‘When Clouds Gather” was also offered through Soul Mate Publishing, Amazon, B & N and all independent sellers. This is a suspenseful murder wrapped in a romance.
In 2015 I released a full length novel called ‘Chasing the Painted Skies’, part mystery, part alternative paranormal, part treasure hunt, a dash of ghost story and all romance
I also was honored to be included with a short story into a Christmas anthology collection. Eight love stories by eight talented authors, all told around the timeless Christmas theme.
My plans–so far–for 2016 is to release another full length novel this summer. This is all in addition to regular contributions for the regional periodicals. Writing full time has been a dream of mine since I was a child. Now, it’s coming true, one story and article at a time.
Meanwhile, until the writing career becomes more ‘serious’, there is still the daily reality of shift work and a life beyond the worlds and characters that live in my mind. At least they can keep me company there and when the shift work is too much to take, I can escape to the locations in my mind for only a little while. We writers have such luxuries over others sometimes.
Upon the Tide is book number 7, a thrilling romance that features an epic boat chase all around exotic ports of call in the Caribbean!
More exciting stories came out in 2016, 18, and 19. Comedy, foodie and sweet inspirational, but all romance. I self released a blog to book non-fiction story about the first two years with my adopted collie, Ty. He came to me near feral, and with a U-Haul truck worth is emotional issues. I chronicled them for two years and then put them in a book (with loads of pictures) called “Ty’s Journey: The First Two Years with My Adopted PTSD Collie” It’s available on Amazon. I also self-published a women’s fiction/ military romance called “September’s Song” which has done well in the professional peers.
There have been contributions to anthologies and a country music band series. And much more to come. As of mid 2020, I have four contracts signed for upcoming releases.
The plans for the blog for the second half of 2020 and into 2021 are to include more personal book reviews (Since I also review for professional review site, I cannot always post those reviews on my blog as they belong the site, and it cuts down on my recreational reading) I want to include more author interviews and lots more ‘been thinking about…’ observations.

I have tried to write a book and have continuous obstacles that keep happening, I.e., computer crashing, second computer crashing. I finally have a new computer and no grandkids that share it, but I have trouble staying motivated now and my research is trying. I will get there though!
Hello, Vickie, thank you for stopping by. Computer issues are unfortunate, frustrating and part of the writing journey. We somehow find a way, despite the obstacles. Best wishes for your writing career. Just remember, we usually write for ourselves first and writing is supposed to be fun.
You have an inspiring story 🙂 Thanks for stopping my blog! Can I review Shimmers in Stardust?
